Shannen Cromartie is a woman who sets goals for herself.

She believes that hard work can take you places, and she never considers doing anything but her best.

So, when Shannen felt stuck in an old job, she did what she always does: Set her sights on something bigger.

“I felt like I was passed over when it came to promotions at my old job,” Shannen says. “I wanted to be somewhere where I felt valued.”

In July 2018, she was hired at what was then York Traditions Bank. She started as a construction mortgage coordinator and put in the same hard work she did in her previous career roles.

This time, she didn’t have to seek out opportunities to grow — they were offered to her.

Today, Shannen is a Mortgage and Consumer Loan Team Leader at Traditions Bank.

“I thought this job was too good to be true,” she says. “Everyone has wanted to see me grow and succeed. It’s been a place where I can reach my full potential.”

Meaningful work

Alex Myers has always loved getting to know people. Sitting down with someone, hearing their hopes and dreams, and being a part of their story is what attracted him to the banking world.

He started his career in 2019 as a portfolio manager at Traditions Bank. It gave him the opportunity to do all of the things he enjoyed.

Alex’s life then started to change. He had recently gotten married and had an hour commute each way. It got to be too much. He reluctantly left to work for another bank closer to home.

In early 2021, Traditions Bank reached out to him. They were opening their first Lancaster branch on Oregon Pike. It was a chance to help them forge a new path.

“I’ve always wanted to be part of an organization that pushed me to do more,” Alex says. “Traditions Bank has always done that for me. Whether it’s giving more to the community or challenging myself in new ways, I know the work is meaningful.”

Today, Alex is a Business Services Partner, and he’s continued to meet new people and help them reach their goals.

Assisting businesses navigate the pandemic, he’s seen just how important the work he does is to the greater community.

“I came into this role and hit the ground running to help be an ambassador for the bank while knowing how meaningful some of these resources were for businesses right now,” Alex says. “It helps me go home at the end of the day knowing I’ve really helped someone.”

Room to grow

Shannen no longer dreads going into an office where she doesn’t feel appreciated or where she has to prove her value.

Rather, she believes that no matter her goal within the company, Traditions Bank will help her get there.

“I get to be part of a culture that supports me for what I bring to the table,” she says. “In my job, I get to help people’s dreams come true as they plan for their future. In return, Traditions Bank helps me pursue my own dreams.”
